Pokken Tournament Announced for Wii U

By Aaron SandersAugust 23, 2015

Pokken Tournament is a Japanese arcade game from the team behind the Tekken games, where you take control of a Pokemon and battle it out in true fighting game fashion. The game was announced last year for Japanese arcades but to celebrate the start of this year’s Pokemon World Championships in Boston, the Pokemon Company announced that the game will be making it’s way to Wii U systems across the globe.

The gameplay content from the trailer comes from the arcade version of the game but The Pokemon Company has stated that the games has “amazing graphics and smooth, fluid movements.” No details on the roster have been released yet as well, but as seen from the trailer, we see Charizard, Lucardio, Machamp, Blazekin, Gengar, Gardevior, Weavile, Suicune, and of course Pikachu (and Pikachu Libre) will all be playable characters. Other little tid-bits we get from the trailer, it looks like character summons will be part of the game play as well as Mega-Evolutions.

Pokken Tournament releases worldwide for Wii U in Spring 2016.
