Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake

By Keith MitchellAugust 12, 2015

They heard us folks, they really finally heard us and took notice. Following the reception that Resident Evil HD Remaster received and excitement that was generated after hearing that Resident Evil Zero Remaster was on the way (2016), seems that Capcom is only going to ride that success train and also remaster Resident Evil 2 as well.

“We’re pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development. As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don’t have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we’ve received on this title. We’re looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for.”

While not my favorite Resident Evil title, as that acclaim goes to Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, Resident Evil 2 was very enjoyable and I for one am happy to hear that it will also get a remaster as well. No systems or time frame was announced however, but if the past trend is anything to go on, we’ll see it come to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. But don’t expect this to release until after the Resident Evil Zero remaster is released.

The title will be overseen by Resident Evil Remaster producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.

Just keep on giving the fans what they want Capcom, that’s how you become profitable again!
