Shenmue 3 Teaser Released

By Jason KwasnickiJuly 15, 2015

The latest update to the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter comes with a short teaser featuring a new scene being worked on, which Yu Suzuki sends with “with loving care.” Additionally, the update seeks to remind anyone interested that for $6000, you can cameo in the game as an NPC.

The campaign has reached almost five million dollars, and is now in its final three days. Shenmue 3 was announced as a Kickstarter at E3 this year as one of Sony’s big guns, although some were curious as to how a AAA title could be made on such a meager budget (the original target was two million dollars). Sony head Shuhei Yoshida once said that the “top” PS3 games cost somewhere between 20 to 50 million dollars to develop, and that prices would rise for the next generation. It soon became known that Sony would indeed help front costs, but Yu Suzuki clarified on the Kickstarter that their contributions would go towards production, marketing and publishing so that “Ys Net is able to use more of the money we collect through Kickstarter purely for Shenmue 3’s development.”

If you were interested in pitching in to the Kickstarter, you better hurry as the campaign ends in 54 hours – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ysnet/shenmue-3.

Born and raised in the New York area, currently kicking it in Queens, and keeping an ear to the grindstone in this crazy world of internet media hustling. Having attended the George Washington University with a Degree in History, I'm sometimes inclined to use big words unnecessarily. While I typically play a lot of RPGs, I tend to like any game that is fun. My PSN ID is NY-Miller, so hit me up if you ever want to kill some Wizards on the Moon in Destiny.
