Update: It’s Official, Silent Hills won’t be made after all

By Keith MitchellApril 27, 2015

Update: The project has been officially canned by Konami – here.

Konami’s official statement

Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.

After all the chaos that has surrounded both Konami and the removal of Hideo from the company, it seems that the Metal Gear series wasn’t the only game affected. Originally in developed before Konami and Hideo Kojima started having issues was the rebirth of the Silent Hill series, with the title Silent Hills. Fans of the series had started to question the status of the title with no official reply on the matter from Konami.

However it seems that P.T is quietly being removed from the PlayStation store and will be off the platform as of April 29th but now film director, Guillermo del Toro, who was involved with the development of Silent Hills along side of Hideo Kojima, has as now mentioned during the  San Francisco International Film Festival that the title has been canned. Now that news however didn’t not come from Toro directly and instead was from a tweet by a an attendee of the film festival and it’s likely that the comment was either made up, taken out of content or is actually legit.

“It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.” -Guillermo del Toro on #SilentHills. #sfff #sffs #sffilmfest #fb

Until we hear something official from Konami, it sems that everyone is going to be left in the dark. That said, I’m starting to believe that the game is in fact dead. Why other would Konami remove the P.T. demo from PSN, if other to remove any existance of the title.

A sad day for Silent Hill fans indeed. Konami, seriously… what the hell is going on over there? First Castlevania, Metal Gear and now this?
