Well Played Cartoon Network, Well Played

By Keith MitchellApril 1, 2012

As many of you are aware today is April 1st or also known as April Fool’s day. Yes the day where the inner jester comes out and practical (or serious) jokes come forth, usually with mixed results.

Well it seems that the Cartoon Network has been thinking about their April Fool’s gag so some time and damn if they didn’t top it for me. Oh I’m getting ahead of myself….. OK yes I’m geeking a tad. You see Cartoon Network brought back Toonami as their April Fool’s joke. Yes, TOONAMI! MC masterbot “TOM” was up and running again bringing the good stuff, the really good stuff; Big-O, Blue Submarine No. 6, Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Dragon Ball Z, And even Tenchi Muyo! Yes I am truly geeking out hard over here!

You gotta understand I as well as others grew up on Toonami and were deeply saddened when it went off the air. But it also looks like this may be of a more deeper agenda. Towards the end of the show “TOM” (Who is actually voiced by Steven Blum) mentioned the following on his Facebook fanpage (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-Blum/152361198170316);

“For the record, Wikipedia, I did NOT say it’s here to stay. …But I sure hope so. Let ‘em know you want it, people. Late. End Transmission. XO T.O.M.”

So…. I’m pumped, if this is a sign of things to come (Especially since Funimation is off the air on Verizon / Fios) sign me up.
