Both SOPA & PIPA Are Dead…..For Now

By Keith MitchellJanuary 20, 2012

Thanks to the efforts of thousands of concerned US citizens, companies who wised up and everyone else who opposed both the SOPA and PIPA bills, we can all reset easy now. Lamar Smith, the author of SOPA has pulled the bill from vote, stating  he’d have to wait until there is wider agreement on a solution before moving forward. Meanwhile House & Senate leaders had dropped any plans on going any further on the SOPA and PIPA bills.

However not everyone is happy about this mainly the MPAA and RIAA.

Chris Dodd who happens to be the CEO of the MPAA stated “as a consequence of failing to act, there will continue to be a safe haven for foreign thieves.” The MPAA, which represents such companies as Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., is a leading advocate for the anti-piracy legislation.

So while the MPAA and RIAA and friends are frowning I’ll be sure to do my happy dance.
