Dragon’s Dogma 2 Release Date Confirmed for March 2024

By Keith MitchellNovember 28, 2023

It was initially rumored that Capcom’s follow-up to the action RPG title Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon’s Dogma 2, would be released on March 22, 2023. Now that the game has shown up on Steam (as spotted by Twitter user Wario64) for pre-order for the very same say, I’d say that confirms the official release date. However, I still haven’t seen anything official in the form of a press release from Capcom.

Ok, while Steam is showing March 21, 2023, Capcom has officially revealed it will be March 22, 2023. While Steam is showing the date it is for North America is beyond me.

I’m assuming this would have been mentioned during the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase, which will take place on November 28, 2023 – which happens to be today. I’m not saying that someone pressed the button early, but given the showcase is in a few hours, I’d imagine that is the case. However, it’s odd that Valve and Capcom haven’t taken the page down, so I suppose the damage has been done since the cat is out of the bag. Or maybe it was planned; who knows.

However, there’s no new information revealed on the Steam page, despite my hoping there would be.

There are also several pre-order bonuses, based on if you pick up the standard edition or deluxe edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Standard edition pre-order will provide access to the “Superior Weapons Quartet,” which looks to be a pair of daggers, a sword and shield, a staff, and a bow. The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe pre-order bonuses include the “Superior Weapons Quartet” and the “Ring of Assurance.”

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe edition will also provide access to the ” New Journey Pack,” which includes several items to help you on your adventure, including the following:

– Dragon’s Dogma Music & Sound Collection – Custom Sounds
– Harpysnare Smoke Beacons – Harpy Lure Item
– Heartfelt Pendant – A Thoughtful Gift
– Ambivalent Rift Incense – Change Pawn Inclinations
– Makeshift Gaol Key – Escape from gaol!
– Art of Metamorphosis – Character Editor
– Wakestone – Restore the dead to life! (A)
– 1500 Rift Crystals – Points to Spend Beyond the Rift

And with this, we’ll have to wait until the Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase, which takes place on November 28, 2023, at 1 PM PT/ 4 PM ET, for more information and our first gameplay footage look at the game. I’m excited as it’s been a decade since Dragon’s Dogma was released, and with Capcom being quiet about a sequel for several years, I had expected this series to go the same way as Capcom’s other title, Deep Down.

Here’s what we know about Dragon’s Dogma 2 so far: Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. Between the domains of humans and the newly introduced beastren race, a unnamed hero must fulfill their forgotten destiny and claim the throne. Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.

This single-player narrative-driven action RPG challenges players to use their creativity and curiosity to shape their own experience. Whether it is your Arisen’s vocation, the Pawns selected for your party, or your approach to multi-faceted gameplay situations, the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 revolves around choice. Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high-fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions and their consequences come to life.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 21, 2024.
