Xenoblade Chronicles Dev Says Monolith Soft Still Hasn’t Reached Their Peak

Then we'll be feasting for some time, then!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 review Favorite Nintendo Switch Games, Monolith Soft

If you’ve been to The Outerhaven in the past, you might know how much I enjoy Monolith Soft and the games they made. Xenoblade Chronicles 3, for me, was one of the best video games I’ve ever played, and definitely one of the best video game stories I’ve ever experienced. So when I saw a headline that read that the team’s President claimed that they weren’t “satisfied” with all the stuff they had done, I wondered what the heck was going on with the crew! As it would turn out, Nintendo Everything found a brochure the team had made, and it had some revealing interviews with some of the team.

One of those members was Monolith Soft President Hirohide Sugiura, who claimed in the brochure that despite the company being 25 years old, he feels they can do even more and haven’t reached their peak yet. Here are some of his words:

“The amount of staff we have has risen dramatically compared to when we were founded in 1999, and we now have three development studios, and have had a hand in many huge games. However, I do not believe we’ve had enough of the satisfaction that comes from success and achievement. This is definitely something Monolith Soft will pursue for as long as it exists, and perhaps may never be obtainable. To that end, we are thinking about increasing efforts to lay the groundwork for an environment where new leaders can be born. Also, we want to keep being a company that makes customers happy. For example, beyond the framework of just video games, we want to become a charismatic company, such as by expanding further into the realm of customer service.”

Considering the success of the Xenoblade Chronicles series on Switch in the last several years, they’re definitely making fans happy, and they want to see more from this series, while also seeing what the dev team will cook up next. Either way, there are many game devs that can learn from this crew.
