Inio Asano, author of Goodnight Punpun, announced that he will be launching a new manga called Reiraku (Downfall) in March. The manga will run in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine and will make its debut when their seventh issue goes on sale March 10.
The magazine describes the story of Reiraku as follows:
“This story will show the drifting soul of a lone manga artist whose heart has been used up.”
This will mark the first time that Inio Asano and Shizuo Oshimi (Flowers of Evil) will serialize a manga in the same magazine. Oshimi will launch his own new manga, Chi no Wadachi, in the magazine’s sixth issue on February 24.
VIZ Media currently holds the licenses for Asano’s previous works including: Solanin, What a Wonderful World! and, of course, Goodnight Punpun. His previous manga, Nijigahara Holograph was published by Fantagraphic’s Books in 2014 and A Girl on the Shore was published by Vertical Comics.
Asano recently resumed his Dead Dead Demon’s Dededededestruction manga on January 7 after a five month hiatus that began in July 2016. Asano has put the manga on hiatus multiple times since July 2014.
