Fahkumram was released for Tekken 8 earlier this week for Season Pass holders of Year 2’s Stage and Character Pass. Fahkumram’s official release date is later today. The long-range Muay Thai fighter, from Tekken 7, doesn’t pull punches, elbows, kicks, or even a knee or two. Bruce and Josie will have to take a seat this round as the kickboxing representative. I got into him with my Haowrang, but getting Fahkumram down is another story at the very least. Namco also talked about his conception through Michael Murray’s deep dive into Fahkumram’s conception. It even got Tekken Project Producer Michael Murray hitting the bag in Thailand. Muay Thai champ Nadaka Yoshinari provided motion capturing for Fahkumram.
Fahkumram’s Viscious Uppercut is indomitable, for starters. The launcher does project, but if it hits, that’s a good setup to continue with. Fahkumram’s stances have a few tricks to watch out for. He comes packed with the Charged Tornado Kick, which triggers the Tornado state without a wall if held down first after his Garuda Stance is on. Brutal hits compared to multi-barrage counterparts are his thing.
With all balance patches, the online replay data will be deleted except for the ghost fighting data. This will be altered due to changes aimed at balancing things. Many characters will be getting theirs in this round as a course correction. Other changes include the Pac-Man anniversary stage and lounge-based updates such as warping. Character Move Behavior Fixes and Balance Adjustments
[Balance Adjustment Policy for Ver.2.03.01]In TEKKEN 8 Ver.2.03.01, we have implemented further balance adjustments to continue improving the battle environment. This update includes ongoing adjustments to moves that offer excessively high rewards and also introduces changes to Rage Arts.
(1) Ongoing Adjustments to Moves with Excessively High Rewards
We have continued our efforts from the Ver.2.01 update to address moves that offer disproportionately high rewards relative to their risks, as well as high-performance moves that can easily create repeated advantageous situations and lead to one-sided outcomes.
(2) Adjustment to the Frame Advantage on Block for Rage Arts
In the Ver.2.00.02 update, the maximum health was increased from 180 to 200, making it more common for characters to enter Rage state with higher remaining health. As a result, there were more situations where simple punishments like throws after blocking a Rage Art were no longer sufficient to secure a KO.
In this update, the frame disadvantage of Rage Arts on block has been changed from -15F to -18F, enabling all characters to reliably punish with air combos.
Regarding the Previously Announced Character Buffs
As announced in the previous patch notes, we originally planned to implement buffs for several characters that would have minimal impact on the overall battle balance. However, after careful consideration, we decided to limit the scope of this adjustment to Devil Jin only, in order to keep the impact on the overall balance to a minimum.
[Future Balance Adjustments]
Considering that several major esports tournaments will take place in August, the update scheduled for August (Ver.2.04) is not expected to include any battle balance adjustments.
Following that, we plan to continue delivering small-scale updates focused mainly on bug fixes and minor balance adjustments.
To no surprise, Anna seems to be getting a lot of things retooled about her. One of the main sweeping changes is that health has been increased to keep the Rage state longer. Tekken Project producer Katsuhiro Harada has promised that more changes will come in the future. This comes as the course corrects for an unfavorable Season 2 reaction since its beginning. Various changes disrupted Tekken 8 for many, to the point of giving it a negative Steam rating.
Not just for Fahkumram, the Battle & Tuning Team is actively discussing many tuning aspects even now. In fact, I believe there will be various tuning updates—both major and minor—in the future. https://t.co/Z7J0GlRArN

Looking Ahead
Fahkumram joins Anna and soon, Armored King in the Year 2 pass. It’s hard to say who will be showing face for the new character to come next winter. Clive was a new face from Final Fantasy XVI, so maybe this could be someone else completely. It’s not a returning character from the 30-year roster. Tekken 7 did the gauntlet with guest characters including Akuma from Street Fighter (who even played a part in the official story), Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, and Negan from The Walking Dead. I’m still hoping for Sifu or Virtua Fighter’s Shun Di.
