Street Fighter 6 will be heading to Nintendo Switch 2

By Kevin KellyApril 2, 2025
Street Fighter VI Fighters Edition

Capcom announced that Street Fighter VI will be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 system during the system’s launch in June. The on-the-go brawling continues for the Nintendo Switch 2 in a port that seems to click the right buttons before checking. This will mark the first time in a long time that a current-generation Street Fighter main timeline game makes it to the Nintendo ecosystem as a current-generation game.

Looks like the features just don’t stop there. The Super Turbo Champion Arcade Alph… err Fighters Edition will include some previous and new updates to Street Fighter 6:

  • Year 1 and Year 2 DLC(despite the Nintendo Switch 2 possibly being for good little boys and girls) will be included in Street Fighter VI Fighters Edition. From the look of things, Elena, the final Year 2 DLC character and 3 Series Capoiera vet, will be stopping by with no need to purchase additional DLC to join Bison, Terry, and Mai. Year 1’s Ed, A.K.I., Rashid, and Akuma, will also be available on launch.
  • Joycon supports all controller types. Classic, Modern, and Dynamic schemes are here for the Joycons.
  • Crossplay is fully functional. Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam ecosystems will be available to duke it out against the Nintendo Switch 2 players.
  • Full 60 FPS display. Nothing gets lost in translation here. The RE engine fighter will be maintaining its frames this run.
  • Local Wireless Play: play normally in one v. one or with the avatars on two systems. Tabletop mode is also available.
  • Twist and shake modes: exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 is a mode that relies on Joycon movement called the “Gyro Battle”. Calorie Contest is also available as a party game, which seems to be using the Joycon movements for actual matches.
  • Luke, Jamie, and Kimberley Amiibos: the first batch of Amiibos, in the form of the 3 new characters to the series, will be coming to join Ken and Ryu.
  • 22 Amiibo Cards will be in tow: the amiibos seem to be representing the Year 1 DLC updated roster. M. Bison, Elena, Mai, and Terry, are not included as of yet.

Much adon’t about Elena

Elena seems to still be something missed in this trailer. The final Year 2 DLC character is slated for Spring, but no separate trailer has yet to be released nor any gameplay renditions within this trailer.

Street Fighter VI: Fighters Edition will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on June xx, according to Nintendo Europe.
