Remnant 2: The Awakened King – Should kill The Awakened King Guide

By Keith MitchellNovember 14, 2023
Should we really fight The Awakened King again

I suppose that’s a trick question, as you must kill The Awakened King / The One True King in the Remnant 2 – The Awakened King DLC. However, you can kill him when you first meet him, sparing Nimue, or kill her first and then head back.

So, let’s see what happens when we kill The Awakened King in the Remnant 2 DLC – The Awakened King.

Option 1: Killing the King after doing this dirty deed.

Once you make it to The Awakened King / The One True King, he will give you a choice: Fight him or become his servant. If you become his servant, he will send you to kill Nimue, who he has captured in a tower and is powerless. We go over this in this guide, so be sure to check it out.

However, once you kill her, you’ll end up going back to tell the King that the deed is done. At first, he’ll be happy, and then he’ll do a 180 and decide to kill you. If you can kill a Goddess, you’ll eventually turn your back on him and decide to kill him. So, he’ll try to take you out first.

Or you can tell him you freed her / Joke’s on you; both options work.

However, there are two ways to kill him. If you kill him regularly and do not attack his mace, you’ll be rewarded with Agony Spike material that can be used to create the Monarch long gun.

However, if you attack his mace, he will occasionally fall to his knees. You’ll receive the Tormentor’s Pommel boss material if you kill him while he is kneeling.

Tormentor’s Pommel material can used to create the Wrathbringer melee weapon.

Option 2: Killing the King once you met him

Well, killing him once you meant him is actually like option 1. Both methods of killing him apply as well.

But after you kill him and head back to Nimue, she will gift you the Amulet called “Gift of the Unbound,” which removes all negative effects of Burden Rings and Restricts maximum health gained by 20% per effect disabled.

So, as you can see, choosing to kill The Awakened King instead of Nimue will provide you with different weapons and items. Of course, the Remnant 2 – The Awakened King DLC is so short you can do both methods in under 10 hours and get all the items!
