SCUF is teasing a new controller for the PC

By Keith MitchellOctober 9, 2023

It looks like SCUF, the customized video game controller company, is up to something yet again. Over the weekend, I received an email from them that talked about a SCUF controller specifically for the PC that they’re teasing, and it piqued my interest, mainly due to most PC gamers using gaming controllers made for gaming consoles. We’re using the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series, DualShock 3/4, DualSense, or any number of controllers out there.

There hasn’t been a controller made for the PC outside of the Logitech F710 and F310, which haven’t been refreshed in over ten years. I was never a fan of either, and they were God-ugly to boot. Or the Gravis PC Gamepad from 1991! While I already have more controllers than I need, I’m interested in this as I’m mainly a PC gamer, and I love it when a company gives the PC some love. While SCUF isn’t talking just yet, we can make out a few things thanks to this silhouette.

Whatever this controller is, it does feature left and right bumper buttons and likely triggers as well. A d-pad on the upper left of the controller, asymmetrical analog stick placement, which is something I preferred with the DualShock and DualSense controllers over the Xbox controllers, and a button on the right, so four buttons. There’s no cord, so hopefully, the controller will feature a detachable cord, and if so, I pray that this supports USB-C.

Still, it begged to ask the question, is there even a market for a controller that’s specifically for the PC? I mean, it would still need to work with other platforms and thus would make it redundant. Right? It’s interesting to see SCUF going down this path, but again, I am really interested to see what this is (and how much it costs).

I’ve already signed up for more information about this upcoming SCUF PC-only controller and sent emails to every SCUF contact to see if we can get some information ahead of time. But for now, this is all we have.

What do you think about a PC-only gaming controller from SCUF? Would you buy it? Pass because you already have enough controllers? Let us know in the comments.
