First Pokemon Legends Z-A Preview Videos Drop

Some people have all the luck.

Pokemon Legends Z-A, Tears of the Kingdom

With a Nintendo Direct nowhere in sight (for now…), we’re having to rely on other pieces of coverage to get insights into what we’ll be experiencing next on the Nintendo Switch 2. Pokemon Legends Z-A is the next true exclusive to the Switch/Switch 2, and we know it’ll arrive on October 16th, which is just two months away. However, thanks to the Pokémon World Championships, people like those at VGC were able to get their hands on a demo and record short bursts of the gameplay for our viewing pleasure! We’ll recap what they revealed, and you can watch the full video below.

The demo focused primarily on two forms of battling: the Z-A Battle Royal and Rogue Mega Pokémon battles. Each type has free-range movements that you can use to help your Pokémon succeed, while also dodging attacks from the Pokémon themselves. In the battle the VGC player had with Mega Absol, the Pokémon wasn’t afraid to go after his trainer avatar, and if you take too much damage, you’re done. So, you have to mix quick thinking and attacks with proper dodges if you wish to survive.

The demo itself for Pokemon Legends Z-A was on the Nintendo Switch 2 version, and many are already stating that this is the version to play the game on when it arrives in a few months. It’s clear that the title is looking to set itself apart in many ways from its Arceus-starring counterpart, and with many mysteries still to unravel within the game, it could truly be something special when it drops.
