As excitement builds for the Chrono Odyssey Closed Beta, Kakao Games is, thrilled to share the upcoming Developer Diary from Chrono Studio and Kakao Games—debuted today, May 22nd. This new video offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the team’s vision, development journey, and what makes this time-warping MMORPG stand apart.

In this video, the developers pull back the curtain on:

  • A first look at in-game gameplay footage from Chrono Odyssey
  • The development vision and intent behind Chrono Odyssey
  • Key features and strengths of Chrono Odyssey
  • Introduction to Chrono Odyssey content
  • Goals and direction of the first global Closed Beta Test (CBT)

Looking at the Developer interview, it is interesting to see it be more of a dark game and not as much of a fantasy world. I also think it will be interesting to see how well they implement time and space in the story and the setting of this game. That explains the Chrono part of Chrono Odyssey. I think it will be an intriguing experience exploring Setera! I hope it is a unique world to be immersed in as well. I think another part of this game that will be unique and I will want to experience is seeing how a non-linear approach to the main questline goes with an MMORPG. Also, the movements and abilities look pretty fluid for the characters.

Having combat be geared towards switching weapons to deal with cooldowns rather than to wait for it to finish makes me wonder how long it takes for the cooldown to finish. I am also curious about how many weapons you can have equipped at once to switch between them. Also, how seamless the controls feel to switch between different weapons on the fly.

Chrono Odyssey is set to have a closed beta test in June.
