Amazon set to launch a new Amazon Fire TV Stick soon

By Keith MitchellSeptember 28, 2016

Well look at that, Amazon is advertising a brand new Amazon Fire TV Stick and just in time. Like their upgraded Amazon Fire TV, the upcoming Amazon Fire TV Stick will sport an upgraded quad-core processor, which should help with the complaints of the original Fire TV Stick being slow. Glancing over the updated listing, the new Fire TV Stick will be supporting more than just the updated processor as well. I’ve added some of the most important highlights below.

What’s new?

  • Alexa Support
  • MediaTek Quad-core ARM 1.3 GHz  processor / Mali450 MP4 GPU
  • Bluetooth 4.1
  • H.265 support
  • Dolby Audio, 5.1 surround sound, 2ch stereo, and HDMI audio pass through up to 7.1

Amazon is stating that this new Amazon Fire TV Stick will be released on October 20, 2016, and will retail for $39.99. That’s the current price as the existing Amazon Fire TV Stick. I’ll definitely be picking up one or two as I already have the original TV Stick and when I use certain apps such as PlayStation Vue, it’s incredibly slow. Here’s to hoping that quad-core processor speeds up things.

Head over to the new Amazon Fire TV listing here for more info.
