Nintendo Switch Production To Double This Year

If you recall, when the Nintendo Switch was first revealed via the “Commercial”, Nintendo stated that their goal was to ship sell 2 million consoles with the launch window (which would’ve been 1-2 months). Which was a very modest goal, but one that made sense given that the Wii U struggled to make that in a good amount of time.

However, with the launch of the Switch came big sales numbers. In fact, the console sold 1.5 million in its first week! And it’s very likely that it’s over 2 million right now, if not close. As such, the need to make more Nintendo Switch’s has never been more prevalent.

Well, that’s exactly what Nintendo plans to do. For according to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo’s new plan for the Switch is to manufacture at least 16 million of the console for the new fiscal year, which is double what they were planning to do.

Now, what does this mean? Well, it means that the Nintendo Switch will likely be available to the hungry public soon, in potential. This doesn’t mean that all 16 million will sell out like the first 1.5 million did, but, with the success of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and upcoming games like Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and more that could be revealed at E3, the Nintendo Switch definitely has a lot of games that are going to be worth playing, and soon.
