Uncharted 4 Week One Sales Best Uncharted 3 in UK

By Jason KwasnickiMay 16, 2016

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the finale of Nathan Drake’s adventures, performed very successfully in its first week. It debuted at No. 1, and was able to outsell Uncharted 3 (in its initial week, that is) in the United Kingdom by 66%. This comes on the tail of Ratchet and Clank claiming the #1 spot in the franchise’s history. This all presents a very pretty picture for Sony’s first-party performance this Spring.

In terms of harder numbers, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception sold 131,586 copies in the UK over the course of its first week, according to VGCHartz. If we are to take the percentage given as a hard fact, then we can estimate that approximately 218,000 copies of Uncharted 4 were sold in the UK this past week. Of course, this assumes that the sales being tallied are actually sales. In this industry, companies have a tendency to report copies shipped to retailers as “sold”. That being said, this number would not be surprising.

Uncharted 4 has had a very good critical reception. Our own Mark Sullivan gave the title a 5-star rating. His full review can be seen here. Metacritic holds the game at a 93 as of the writing of this article, not an easily obtained status. As for global sales, the numbers are not yet in. But, if one were to try to estimate based on this one market, keep in mind that US sales for Uncharted 3 in its first week were a little under 500,000. However, such math should be taken with a grain of salt.

For more coverage of Uncharted 4, you can check out the aforementioned review. Alternatively, you can head on over to SonyCentric, where the crew just held a special spoilercast (see below). Look forward to this week’s episode, where we discuss the game even more. As always, stay tuned to The Outerhaven.

Born and raised in the New York area, currently kicking it in Queens, and keeping an ear to the grindstone in this crazy world of internet media hustling. Having attended the George Washington University with a Degree in History, I'm sometimes inclined to use big words unnecessarily. While I typically play a lot of RPGs, I tend to like any game that is fun. My PSN ID is NY-Miller, so hit me up if you ever want to kill some Wizards on the Moon in Destiny.
