Far Cry Primal takes us back to the old old old school

By Keith MitchellOctober 7, 2015

You’re played just about every Far Cry known to many, especially their latest entry, Far Cry 4, which was easily my favorite of the series. However Ubisoft isn’t done with us just yet, and in fact they want to show us what they can do without all the guns, all of the off the wall stories and for their next spin on the series, they’re taking us back in time.

That’s right folks, the next Far Cry title, Far Cry Primal, as it’s being called will take us back to the time where man was just learning what it meant to be savage. The Stone Age, a time where man walked among the beasts and did his best fights with sheer will, a stone age and an arrow or several.  A first person shooter that takes place during the history of mankind, in the Stone Age. Well, this will be different, that’s for sure.

Welcome to the Stone Age, a time of extreme danger and limitless adventure, when giant mammoths and sabretooth tigers rule the Earth, and humanity is at the bottom of the food chain. As the last survivor of your hunting group, you will learn to craft a deadly arsenal, fend off fierce predators, and outsmart enemy tribes to conquer the land of Oros and become the apex predator.

Throughout Far Cry Primal, you’ll play as Takkar, who is a seasoned hunter and apparently the only member left of his group or tribe. And you’ll do what one does when they’re all alone, attempt to survive in a savage world that would love to chew you up and spit you out.  And since there’s no guns, you’ll be able to use other weapons like wooden spears, bows and arrows, stone blades, clubs and more, as you attempt to survive and rebuild your tribe.

What I like about this premise is that it isn’t just man vs man, but also man vs beast, similar to some games of old, especially a fan favorite – Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.. well, without the dinosaurs.

Far Cry Primal i set for a March 2016 release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
