Elden Ring Surpasses 30 Million Copies Shipped

The official Elden Ring account on X (formerly Twitter) has announced that Elden Ring has officially shipped over 30 million copies worldwide as of April 2025. This is an incredible achievement — not just for Fromsoftware, but for the Soulslike genre as a whole.

To put things into perspective, the entire Dark Souls trilogy — Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, and Dark Souls III — collectively sold just over 30 million copies as of May 2023. For a single Soulslike title to hit that milestone on its own is amazing. Especially since these titles, despite being popular, are still considered niche. Elden Ring has firmly cemented itself not only as a critical darling but also as a true mainstream phenomenon, something that even the most successful previous entries in the genre hadn’t quite managed to accomplish.

And the journey isn’t over yet. Fans have more to look forward to with the upcoming release of Elden Ring Nightreign, launching on May 30, 2025. Nightreign isn’t just an expansion or a traditional sequel — it’s a bold reimagining of the Soulslike formula. It introduces roguelike elements alongside battle royale mechanics, promising a fresh, ever-evolving gameplay loop where no two runs will feel exactly the same. The addition of randomization, survival stakes, and constant adaptation could give Nightreign an entirely new identity while still maintaining the core DNA that players love.

However, it’s not all excitement without reservations. One lingering point of frustration among the community is the confirmed lack of crossplay in Elden Ring Nightreign. In a time when crossplay has become a standard feature for major online titles, many fans had hoped that Nightreign would allow players across platforms to connect more easily. Whether or not this will impact the game’s sales or its popularity remains to be seen — but it’s certainly a point worth watching after launch.

For now, Elden Ring’s success is a milestone worth celebrating, and with Nightreign on the horizon, it’s clear that FromSoftware isn’t done redefining what a Soulslike experience can be.
