Xbox User rejoice; Curry’s are now fixing consoles.

Xbox User rejoice; Curry’s are now fixing consoles.

For years, Xbox users have feared their consoles might break down, or in older generations, the infamous “Red Ring of Death.” But now, you no longer have to fear this.

Curry’s has become the first Xbox Authorized Service Provider (ASP) in the UK and Ireland, leading the way in giving technology a longer life. This follows the success of their Surface partnership, which allows customers to bring in their laptops for repairs.

Now, you can bring your Xbox console to any Curry’s, even if it wasn’t purchased there, or have it booked into their repair center in Newark. This includes consoles under warranty as well as those without a warranty.

As someone who has only owned Xbox consoles since the age of 10, this is excellent news. I use my Xbox frequently and have always worried about it dying, as most electronics do. But now, I no longer have to worry about where to go if it needs fixing. One concern I have, however, is the price point. I’m sure this will be a question for many people: £99, with a non-refundable £45 assessment fee, and additional charges for repairs to hard drives or circuit boards.

Lindsay Haselhurst, Curry’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are so proud to see our repair partnership with Microsoft flourish. It’s collaborations like this that help us to help more customers enjoy their tech for longer.

This is good news for players, opening up a huge network for tech repairs; it’s good news for Curry’s, helping to improve the consumer relationship with tech; and it’s good news for the planet in the battle to combat the UK’s e-waste crisis.”
