God of War: Ragnarok on PC Requires PlayStation Network Account

God of War: Ragnarok on PC Requires PlayStation Network Account

Sony has announced that God of War: Ragnarok will arrive on PC in September. However, to play the game on Steam, users must have a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. This requirement has caused some concern among fans.

The PC version of God of War: Ragnarok will feature enhanced graphics, including ultrawide support and improved framerates. It will also include the Valhalla DLC and New Game+ mode.

This situation is reminiscent of the recent Helldivers 2 controversy. Sony faced significant backlash when it required PC players of Helldivers 2 to link their PSN accounts. The decision led to the game’s delisting in several countries that do not support PSN, affecting its availability.

Similarly, the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima faced issues due to the PSN requirement for its multiplayer mode. This led to its removal from sale in many regions. Although Ghost of Tsushima’s single-player mode did not require a PSN login, God of War: Ragnarok, an entirely single-player game, will still require one.

Sony’s decision to mandate PSN accounts for these PC games has sparked frustration among players. The company appears committed to this approach despite the negative feedback. Fans will have to decide if the enhanced features of the PC port outweigh the inconvenience of needing a PSN account.
