Tencent, the leading Chinese gaming publisher, has recently raised its investment in Remedy Entertainment, known for games like Alan Wake and Control. The company now controls approximately 14.8% of the Finnish game developer, owning 2,005,716 shares.

This acquisition marks a significant increase from Tencent’s initial stake. The tech giant first bought a 3.8% share in May 2021, which was expanded to 5.01% by November 2022. The strategic investment underscores Tencent’s growing footprint in the global gaming market.

Remedy Entertainment plans to introduce more sequels for its popular games, aiming to transform Alan Wake and Control into highly recognizable franchises. This vision includes more frequent sequel releases and cultivating a broader user base.

The recent launch of Alan Wake 2 has seen considerable success, quickly selling over a million units and becoming the fastest-selling title in Remedy’s history. Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy, expressed gratitude towards the development team for their efforts in achieving this milestone.

Additionally, Remedy is developing several projects, including Codename Condor, a co-op multiplayer game set in the Control universe, and remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2. Codename Kestrel, another anticipated title, is still in the concept stage but promises to offer a premium gaming experience with a robust co-op multiplayer component.
