Tekken 8 Closed Beta Test codes are being sent out

By Keith MitchellOctober 18, 2023
Tekken 8 Panda Reveal-05

Bandai Namco has revealed via the official Tekken Twitter account that the Tekken 8 Closed Beta Test codes for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC have started going out. So, if you signed up for the Tekken 8 CBT, check your email and spam/junk folders.

If you were lucky enough to land a Tekken 8 CBT code, you can also start pre-loading the game, so you won’t have to wait until the last minute. The Tekken Closed Beta Test will begin on October 20, 2023, at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET, to October 23, 2023, at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET, if you’re located in North America. If you already participated in the Tekken 8 Closed Network Test, you won’t receive a code, as your Tekken 8 CNT invite will grant you access to this closed beta.

You won’t need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live to play in this beta, which is good to know.

The Tekken 8 Closed Beta Test will feature a lobby called the Fight Lounge, where players can interact with one another and access the new Tekken 8 features and game modes, including. There, players can create custom Avatars, communicate with other players, set up matchmaking, and experience the deep customization and variety of game modes via four distinct areas called Battle Area, Customization Shop, Beach Area, Tekken Dojo, and the return of everyone’s favorite, Tekken Ball. It seems like a great time to hang out, and it reminds me of going to an arcade.

But more recently revealed is the Tekken 8 ghost mode, where players can compete against other players without having them physically active. Unlike the past ghost mode from the prior Tekken games, this ghost mode will inherit everything about a player. For example, if a player drops combos occasionally, then the ghost will do the same thing and won’t be a perfect CPU player. It sounds like a great way to learn someone’s tactics and learn how to beat them without them knowing.

The Tekken 8 Closed Beta will include 18 playable characters and the following stages: Urban Square (Evening), Yakushima, Rebel Hangar, Sanctum, Arena, and Ortiz Farm.

  • Jin Kazama
  • Jun Kazama
  • Paul Phoenix
  • Marshall Law
  • King
  • Lars Alexandersson
  • Jack-8
  • Ling Xiaoyu
  • Nina Williams
  • Leroy Smith
  • Lili
  • Asuka Kazama
  • Hwoarang
  • Bryan Fury
  • Claudio Serafino
  • Azucena
  • Raven
  • Feng Wei

Sadly, luck wasn’t on my side again, and I didn’t get one of those golden Tekken 8 CBT codes. So be sure to tell me about it once the beta is over. Okay?

Bandai Namco revealed that the Tekken 8 release date is January 26, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
