Netflix renews Castlevania: Nocturne for a second season

By Keith MitchellOctober 6, 2023
Castlevania Nocturne season two announcement

After a super successful run with season one of Netflix’s Castlevania: Nocturne, and one that left fans in suspense after the final episode, Netflix has some good news for you all. Today, the streaming media giant has revealed that Castlevania: Nocturne will be getting a second season — as if we didn’t know that was already going to happen.

Check out the Netflix Castlevania: Nocturne second season announcement below and some spoilers.

At the end of Castlevania: Nocturne, it looked like the end for our heroes, Richter Belmont, Maria Renard, and Annette, as the (sexy as hell) vampiress Drolta Tzuentes had them on the ropes. That is until Castlevania fan-favorite Alcurda, son of Dracula, arrived on the scene and, without much effort, saved the trio and announced who he was.

With Alucard, it begs to ask just where has he been all this time all this time? The last time we saw him, he was finally happy with his friends and considered them family at the end of Netflix’s Castlevania. Now, 300 years later, he pops back up? What has he been doing? Has he not been keeping tabs on the generations of Belmonts, given that he is immortal? Why does Richter consider him a myth when his ancestors worked alongside him to defeat his father, Dracula? I suppose we’ll find out in Netflix’s Castlevania: Nocturne season two.

Sam Deats and Adam Deats will return to share directing duties, while Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation are continuing work on Castlevania: Nocturne, which debuted on Netflix on September 28, 2023. There hasn’t been a release date as of yet, and I don’t expect to see season two until at least Spring 2024… if we’re lucky.

If you haven’t given Castlevania: Nocturne a watch, you can do so on Netflix. As a long-time fan of the Castlevania series, the show isn’t exactly faithful to the game, but in my eyes, that’s okay. If it was, would we truly be watching it? I binged the new show twice now, and now I’m stuck waiting for season two to start.

If you did watch Castlevania: Nocturne season one, what did you think of it? Let us know in the comments!
