Persona News Recap: The Main Heroes of Persona Q and More Arena!

By William "Shadowz" KokSeptember 5, 2014

After the great news of finally showing Persona 5, ATLUS decides to keep it going with more videos of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth!

Shortly after the news of Persona 5, ATLUS  released more videos for Persona Q. This time, they introduced the main heroes of Persona 3  and Persona 4. Since there is no official name for the characters, its funny to think how they would be introduced.  So instead, they would simply be called  P3 Hero, and P4 Hero.

P3 Hero

The main character sounds  calm in this iteration. My thought is that he’s adapting the persona (pun intended) of his character, Makoto Yuki, from the recent movies that were released in Japan. Yuri Lowenthal reprises his role and I find it to be very interesting and funny to hear him voice both Youske Hanamura and P3 Hero in a single scene.

P4 Hero

The main protagonist is as you expect him to be, full of swag and cherishing friendships. From the Jojo poses, you know that the P4 cast is much more lighthearted. Johnny Young Bosch returns for the role.  Also, ME EAT YOU WHOLE…. (a reference to previous games)

And from the Arena side, we have video introductions of Akihiko Sanada, Kanji Tatsumi, and Naoto Shirogane.

Akihiko Sanada

His fist of fury returns once again. His close range and quickness is the main reason you want to use him. A new tweak to him is that he can box opponents in mid-air as demonstrated with Teddie. I’m sure Shinji saw that Aki. Liam O’Brien reprises his role.

 Kanji Tatsumi

The beefcake Grappler is back. A noticeable change is that Troy Baker is not returning for the role. Instead, Matthew Mercer is voicing Kanji instead. Mercer has voiced Kanji before in the animation of Persona 4, so it’s not too surprising. While I will miss Troy Bakers’ delivery of Kanji,  Matthew Mercer does a great job in filling in the shoes. And the specials on Kanji, nearly HALF HEALTH!

Naoto Shirogane

The light and dark detective returns once again. She also has a new voice actress by the name of Valerie Arem. Gotta really hand it to her that Naoto is exactly how she is suppose to sound like. So congrats Valerie Arem. Being another zoning character, she can give Yukari a challenge when it comes to distance fighting. And with her Hama and Mudo instant kill spells, you better watch out.

Seeing all those connecting specials and all that damage being dealt, it is a good thing I don’t fight in EVO tournaments.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released first on September 30, 2014 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

While Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth will be released November 25,2014 for the Nintendo 3DS.
