‘Lucifer’ Season 5 Part 2’s New Trailer is Holy Chaos

By Sara Roncero-MenendezApril 30, 2021

Oh, for the love fo God. Well, with the second part of Lucifer‘s fifth season, that phrase is literal. God is on Earth visiting his kids and well, it makes for some crazy times.

In the trailer, we see God (played by Dennis Haysbert — yes, the AllState guy) coming down to Earth and interrogating Lucifer as to what he does and why he’s on Earth. He then announces he wants to retire, leaving Michael and Lucifer to duke it out as to who will be the next God. There seems to be a big epic fight, lots of dead people, some murders to solve and, of course, some sort of musical episode (or at least interlude). It also sounds that Lucifer tells Chloe that he never loved her (though it probably isn’t, can’t fool us again, trailer) .

Season 6 will be Lucifer‘s last season, but this trailer makes it feel like there’s really nowhere else to go after this blowout. If Michael becomes God, Lucifer’s probably getting cast back to Hell. If Lucifer becomes God, I’m pretty sure reality would shatter. Is there some higher power calling the narrative shots or is this pure jumping-the-shark territory? Only time will tell.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 premieres on Netflix on May 28, 2021.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
