Character Progression In Marvel’s Avengers is About To Turn Into Even More of a Grind After The Next Update

Marvel’s Avengers is getting a new update that is going to make leveling even more of a slog than it already often is. The amount of XP you receive will be adjusted beyond level 25 to make leveling up those later levels take longer and be “more meaningful.” With the current level cap being 50, this change would make that latter half of character progression into much more of an exercise in tedium.

According to the statement, this shift in progression was to balance some of the pacing of certain skills being obtained too early in the game. In all fairness, plateauing extremely early in a live service title won’t do any favors in prolonging players’ time playing it. Especially in a title that has already been criticized for being short on content. This could also have the effect of alienating newer players by making progression feel more daunting than it initially was. Which is the exact opposite of what the teams over at Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were hoping to accomplish.

There is also currently a bug that makes leveling move at Quicksilver levels of speed as long as you have multiple characters already at higher levels. This is something that will seemingly be remedied when the update rolls out. So if the new XP grind doesn’t sound like something you’re interested in, this might be something to look into before it’s gone for good.

The free update goes live for all players on March 18th and also releases on the same day as the Hawkeye – Future Imperfect expansion and also comes along with the next-gen upgrade as well as a handful of cosmetic changes. The whole rundown of the upcoming update can be found on the Square Enix website.
