Russian Doll‘s first season arrived with a little fanfare but made a huge splash critically. Many were drawn in about the introspective and thoughtful story of two people who keep dying and starting at the same point over and over. Now, to much delight and surprise, the show has been renewed for a second season.

While fans of the show is excited, they are also a little confused. After all, the show ended on a pretty sweet note, Natasha Lyonne’s Nadia finally working through her connection issues alongside Charlie Barnett’s Alan, who learns to let go of what he can’t control. The two are separated in the finale by some weird twist in space-time but appear re-united by a surprise parade, like you do. Still, all seemed all tied up in a nice little bow. Maybe the two fall off the bandwagon and need a universal reminder to shape up? Maybe they help out two other characters stuck in a time loop? Maybe the time loop isn’t over and the two are doomed to repeat the world over and over until it all falls apart? Any guess is as good as any other at this point.
The show was co-created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland, so they could have come up with a new plot line for the season involving different characters or scenarios. There’s no clue if Lyonne is going to be returning in front of the screen, but she did record a message for fans:

No word as to when Russian Doll Season 2 will premiere on Netflix.
