Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Lets You Switch Between A New and Old Soundtrack

By VeronicaJuly 19, 2018
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy

Activision shared news at San Diego Comic Con that the highly anticipated Spyro: Reignited Trilogy would feature new original music. Series composer Stewart Copeland creates a new soundtrack to complement the remastered games. However, fans of the games original score can rest assured that the games are still playable with the original songs! Spyro: Reignited Trilogy allows players to easily switch between the new and old soundtracks by opening the options menu in-game. You can compare some of the new and old songs below:

Copeland discusses writing new music for the remaster at the  Spyro: Reigniting a Legend panel:

Creating new music for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been incredibly fun and nostalgic for me…Seeing how the fans loved the original series and soundtrack was a very heart-warming experience 20 years ago, and being able to revisit that fun with the new game has brought things full circle. I can’t wait for players to hear the new intro title track and enjoy the option to play the remastered game to my original music when the trilogy arrives this fall. ‘Tiger Train’ includes some of my favorite themes from the original soundtrack, which I’m sure the Spyro faithful will appreciate!

Listen to the new main theme below:

Touches like this one make revisiting the beloved franchise all the more fun, bringing more to the new Spyro experience, but leaving plenty in the way of nostalgia for old fans. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy includes Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. The collection is now available for preorder for $39.99, and arrives on PS4 and Xbox One this September 21st.
