Wreak Metal Mayhem in Modus Games’ Override: Mech City Brawl

By Zachery PaikaiJuly 12, 2018
Override: Mech City Brawl
Four mechs battle it out in Japan.

Modus Games‘ newest title is an arena styled fighter aptly named Override: Mech City Brawl and is being developed by The Balance Inc. This game is slated for a release on December 4, 2018, and is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A closed beta has also been announced for August 10-12, 2018.

Override: Mech City Brawl currently features 12 characters to choose from. All of which possess unique traits and abilities. Some mechs may approach a situation with aggressive, close-ranged combat; while others might be more comfortable at a distance, utilizing projectiles and long-reaching attacks. Even your way of mobility will differ between mechs; either by rolling around as a destructive ball, using a grappling hook, or transporting out of a bad situation. Characters offer different playstyles and archetypes which can fit different types of players. And if you really want to make a character your own, you can apply customizations in The Garage. The Garage lets you change out accessories and skins to best suit your tastes.

Vidar is a character that excels at mobility and range. In thanks to her bow and grappling hook.

Of course, a battle between towering mechs isn’t the same without a glistening cityscape to demolish in the process. Each arena has been modeled after real-life locations, such as Tokyo, Egypt, San Fransisco, and Mexico. These environments are destructible, so the arenas will showcase the consequences of powerful machines duking it out.

There are several modes for Override: Mech City Brawl that have been confirmed so far. A single-player campaign, a local versus mode (split-screen that supports up to four players), online versus mode, and even a fun, party, co-op mode where 2-4 people share control of a mech. Party co-op works like this, each player is assigned an individual portion of the body to control, like the legs, left arm, right arm and the pilot seat. This mode will most likely be a blast with a group of buddies or a frustratingly, fun endeavor. Depends on who your friends are.

From the Hawaiian islands, Nanaue, the Prince of Sharks first appeared. This shark man was uncontested in terms of video game prowess. His notoriety of being a top-tier game wiz angered the envious locals and eventually forced Nanaue into exile. His hunger for competition and game knowledge grew as time past. This in tow, leads him to delve into the sea of writing and gaming culture.
