E3 2018: Bethesda Is Working On The Elder Scrolls VI After All

By Keith MitchellJune 11, 2018
The Elder Scrolls IV announcement

Going into Bethesda’s E3 2018 conference, one of biggest questions was were we going to hear something about the rumored The Elder Scrolls VI. We sat through the majority of the show, yet we didn’t get an answer. Fearing that it might be another year until we hear something about the newest chapter in the series, Bethesda pulled the cover off of new, unnamed Elderscrolls game – The Elder Scrolls VI.

As the conference was coming to a close, Bethesda’s Todd Howard (stupid auto-correct) exclaimed to the masses “This is the game you keep asking about”. What followed was a very short trailer with a land mass slowly coming into view, with the iconic Elder Scrolls music being played in the background.  Cut to The Elder Scrolls VI logo, which got the crowd and the team watching from home, very excited.

And that was it. A very short trailer put a powerful one. Yes, the next The Elder Scrolls game is being developed as we speak. There’s no ETA, no platform announcement, nothing. Chances are we won’t hear much about this game for quite some time and I’m ok with that.  As long as we know it’s being worked on, I’m sure that’s more than enough for the fans of the series.

I’m sure that as long as it comes out with the next two years, that we’ll see it on the usual candidates; PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. But what if this is a more ambitious project and one that we won’t see during this generation? Sure, this is all speculation for now, but what if it is? There’s basically no info outside of know the game exists. There’s not even a subtitle for the game as of yet.

One thing is for sure, the next few years leading up to the eventual release of this The Elder Scrolls game is going to be interesting. Very interesting, indeed.

But if you can’t wait that long, there’s always the newest The Elder Scrolls game announced for smartphones; The Elder Scrolls Blades. An all-new way to play Bethesda’s super popular RPG series, The Elder Scrolls Blade will allow gamers on the go (outside of the Switch) to experience The Elder Scrolls like never before. Via touch-screen based swiping combat, players will be able to tackle indoor and outside areas, complete quests, build the own towns or even their friends’ towns.

Coming to iOS and Android devices later this Fall 2018. Players can sign up now for access to an early beta of now, over at https://bethesda.net/play/blades. Just sign in with your Bethesda account (you do have one, right?), select your device and click “Sign Up”.
