‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Rolls into Production for Netflix

By Sara Roncero-MenendezMay 2, 2018

Not so long ago, we excitedly told you about the Netflix adaptation of the popular Archie comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, though it was still in the stage where it could all fall apart. But there’s some strong magic in the Spellman family, and the show has made it into production!

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which is the show’s official title, has cast its spell as well as its actors and production has begun with some photos coming out already. Kiernan Shipka will play Sabrina and Ross Lynch will play Harvey Kinkle.

Shipka will be best known to the nerd community as the voice of Jinora from The Legend of Korra. Lynch is a former Disney Channel star who will also be playing, creepily enough, a young version of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the upcoming comic adaptation, My Friend Dahmer. You can see the two stars below:

We’ve also got Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto as Sabrina’s Aunt Hilda and Zelda (respectively), Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker, and Michelle Gomez as the villain Madam Satan. Not too many big names, but frankly I’m not worried given that Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, head of Archie comics and the writer of the comics series this show is based on, is at the helm.

There’s still no word yet as to when the series will debut on Netflix, but it’s likely this witchy tale will make its debut sometime in 2019. The good news is that the show’s first two seasons will be coming out in quick succession, so there will be less downtime to get our thrills and chills.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
