The first year of a new console or handheld is often seen as a “testing” period. For often after the first year there is a new version of the console or handheld given out. This has happened with things like the PS1, PS2, 3DS, and so on. Many have wondered if the Nintendo Switch would be getting such treatment now that we’re about to enter its second year.
Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, that won’t be the case. For Nintendo is working hard on keeping the manufacturing of the main Nintendo Switch to even think about a “2.0” version, which makes sense given it’s the most popular new console likely since the Wii. But moreso, their sources say that:
“Switch features in the coming year could also include additional network-related features and peripherals to be attached to its USB Type-C port.”
Hmm…very interesting. Now, while Nintendo Switch peripherals aren’t new, if Nintendo is spending time to make some more, it could be interesting to see what they make. Will it be another oddball think like Labo? Or, will it be something for the hardcore gamer. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
