Warner Bros. Pulls The Plug On LEGO Dimensions

By Keith MitchellOctober 23, 2017
Lego Dimensions canceled.

Yet another toy-centric video game killed off

Lego Dimensions canceled.

Much like the Disney Infinity series that predated it, LEGO Dimensions is no more.  Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games made the announcement today, much to the disappointment of many fans. They will no longer produce any new expansions for the game. So you’ll only be able to purchase what’s already on store shelves.

Server and customer support will continue on, however, for how long remains to be seen. Very similar to how Disney approached the Infinity gaming series when they withdrew from the video game scene.

What hurts more than anything is that when WB announced LEGO Dimensions, they said they would support it for three years. Seeing how LEGO Dimensions was first released during September 2015, they’re a year short.

Ironically enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of WB putting the brakes on LEGO Dimensions. It was stated earlier this year by Brickstolife.com, that the series was coming to an end. With no new mention of any upcoming expansions and even less marking of the title, it seems the end was alright in sight. It would be interesting to know what prompted WB to end the series early. Especially since the line-up had been outselling both Skylanders Superchargers and Disney Infinity 3.0.

This leaves Nintendo and their amiibo line-up, the only toy-centric game on the market. With LEGO Dimensions out of the picture, Disney’s Infinity already gone and Activision’s Skylanders with no game being released this year (rumored to be quietly canceled).

Looks like Nintendo wins again!
