Yen Press Simultaneously Publishes Dead Mount Death Play Manga

By Jeremy FuOctober 20, 2017

According to an article on Anime News Network, Yen Press has announced that it will publish the new original manga, Dead Mount Death Play, simultaneously alongside Japan. Said manga will be launched digitally in English on Friday. That happens to be the same day the title launches in Square Enix’s bi-monthly Young Gangan magazine over in Japan.

The manga is written by Ryohgo Narita, the writer behind Baccano!, a popular and ongoing light novel series. The illustrator for Dead Mount Death Play is Shinta Fujimoto. Fujimoto was the artist behind the manga adaptation of Baccano! that ran from October 2015 to January 2017. He was also the author and artist of the manga, Red Raven. Red Raven ran from April 2010 to November 2013 with 9 volumes and 44 chapters. Yen Press had digitally published the chapters of the manga adaptation of Baccano! simultaneously with the Japanese release. The company also plans on physically publishing the manga volumes at a later date.

As mentioned earlier, Baccano! is still ongoing as a light novel. The title was launched back in 2003 through the joint effort of Narita and illustrator Katsumi Enami. Yen Press has licensed the light novel series and plans on releasing the series in North America. The title also inspired an anime adaptation back in 2007.

Narita was also behind the Durarara!! light novels with art by Suzuhito Yasuda. The title has inspired several adaptations, from several anime series to video games to manga series. Yen Press currently publishes the light novels and manga in North America. The novel’s 13th volume concluded the title’s first arc back in 2014. However, Narita has since relaunched the series as Durarara!! SH following an in-universe two-year time skip.

Hopefully, Ryohgo Narita and Shinta Fujimoto’s partnership stays strong and fruitful as they begin a new chapter and a new story with Dead Mount Death Play.
