Netflix Set To Raise Pricing Next Month

Ready for another Netflix price increase? Starting next month, Netflix will jack up the pricing for both the standard and premium tiers of service. Standard pricing will be raised to $10.99, a $1.99 price increase, while premium will see a $2.00 dollar price hike, moving it to $13.99. Their basic service, which is priced at $7.99 will remain unaffected.

Looks like Netflix is raising their pricing to offset the cost of creating original content for their service. Meaning, subscribers will need to eat some of that cost to put some more money in Netflix’s pockets. It’s a big and risky move, especially since Netflix isn’t the only big name in the scene anymore. With Amazon Video, iTunes, Hulu, and a few others in the hunt for your hard earned cash, a move like this could cost subscribers.

At the same time, Netflix is still continued by many to be the pioneer when it comes to media streaming. I doubt this move will impact them in any way. They also have a huge following, thanks to many of their shows, including Orange Is The New Black, House of Cards, Stranger Things, and Marvel’s joint efforts – Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Dare Devil, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Marvel Netflix Series

Back in 2014, Netflix had raised their pricing for the HD subscription service from $7.99 to $9.99. Existing users weren’t impacted by this until May 2016.

Netflix has stated that prior to this change in pricing that their existing customers will be noticed.
