Code Vein II Overview Trailer Shows Off Combat Changes, New Weapons, and Character Creator Demo

By Keith MitchellJanuary 13, 2026
Code Vein 2 Release Date revealed during Tokyo Game Show 2025.

With Code Vein II now just two weeks away from release and following the massive Code Vein II hands-on preview Bandai Namco gave us, the floodgates are officially open. Bandai Namco has now released an official overview gameplay trailer, giving fans their most detailed look yet at what the sequel is bringing to the table.

Check out the new trailer below.

The trailer digs into the game’s upgraded core systems, including expanded Revenant combat, deeper character creation, and a wider look at the haunting new locations you’ll explore across both past and present versions of the world. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Code Vein II pushes players into a narrative-driven journey where time is a weapon, and survival depends on mastering new mechanics and fighting alongside companions through the Partner System.

Combat is getting a major overhaul, introducing more strategy through enhanced Drain Attacks, Formae, and Jails. Drain Attacks are used to extract Ichor, a key resource that powers Formae, which comes in several types. Weapon Formae modify attacks and grant buffs, Bequeathed Formae summon unique weapons for brutal strikes, and Defensive Formae allow for critical blocks, counters, and evasive movement. Jails, worn on the player’s back, further shape your build by altering stats, modifying Drain Attacks, and granting encounter-specific advantages.

The trailer also shows off the Restorative Offering, a new mechanic where partners can revive a fallen Revenant Hunter with recovered health. The catch is there’s a cooldown that temporarily disables the partner, forcing players to think carefully before leaning on it mid-fight.

Weapon options are expanding too, with Twin Blades and Rune Blades joining the roster alongside returning favorites like the Bayonet, Halberd, Hammer, and Greatsword. All of this ties into the upgraded Blood Code system, which allows players to swap combat styles and Revenant power sets as they progress. The new Boosters system adds even more flexibility, letting you unlock key attributes and traits tied to Blood Codes and equipment, making specialized builds easier than ever.

Ahead of launch, players can also get their hands on the Code Vein II Character Creator Demo starting January 23, 2026. The demo includes deep customization options for the Revenant Hunter, supports up to 64 save slots, and allows characters to transfer directly into the full game after purchase. You’ll even be able to view your character in different lighting environments at the MagMell Institute hot spring, and capture creations using Photo Mode.

And let’s not forget that Code Vein II also has a collector’s edition, which, sadly appears to be sold out, but there’s a wait list over on Bandai Namco’s website. If you’re a fan of the game, I’d definitely put your name down for it. The Code Vein II collector’s edition will set you back $180, however, does include a copy of the game, an artbook, steelbook case, in-game content, and a statue of the time traveling character, Lou MagMell.
