Octopath Traveler 0 Producer Explains Games “Parallel Story” And New Elements

Octopath Traveler 0

It’s always a tricky thing when adapting something from one specific medium to another. In the case of Octopath Traveler 0, the team is adapting what was strictly a mobile game, with many story and gameplay elements that were rooted in mobile-style gaming, to consoles and PC. To their credit, they’re not doing a straight port, but adapting things to make it stronger, well-rounded, have better quality-of-life improvements, and adding more content within it to boot. To that end, in an interview with Inverse, Producer Hirohito Suzuki noted that the story of the new version is much more complex than before.

Specifically, he highlighted that there isn’t a “singular story” you can pursue, but rather, two you can take on at your own pace, or right next to one another:

When the story kicks off, essentially, is when the village the player is peacefully living in is absolutely decimated and destroyed. From there, they have the option to pursue two stories that progress in parallel, the more restoration-focused story – or a story that’s more focused on revenge, where the villains in particular play a much larger role. As you know, the bosses stand against the player and the protagonist. And things kind of reach a point toward the end of the story, where you kind of start to see more things that might unfold.

A key twist, though, is that in the game’s beginning, you can only pick one path or the other. However, eventually, things will become “intertwined,” thus expanding things greatly.

Suzuki did another interview, though, and the information he gave focused on just how much more Octopath Traveler 0 will offer players:

Octopath Traveler 0 details from Producer Suzuki:- Number of monsters and bosses is 'incredible'- 30-40% of the main scenario is new- Side quests and party chat are new- Voiced character dialogue is new- 100+ hour playtime. Players won't get bored.automaton-media.com/articles/int…

Players will have a lot to enjoy when the game arrives on December 4th.
