BAND-MAID made a striking return with their brand-new EP, SCOOOOOP, available now across all major streaming platforms.
Delivering a blistering mix of ferocious musicianship, unforgettable hooks, and raw emotion, the eight-track EP showcases the band at their most dynamic and versatile. Fans were first introduced to this new era last July with the release of SCOOOOOP’s lead single, “What Is Justice?” – a hard-hitting, riff-driven anthem that serves as the ending theme for the anime series Tougen Anki. Its accompanying music video has since amassed over 2.4 million views in just three months.
The EP also features fan favorites “Zen” and “Ready to Rock” – serving as opening themes for two major Japanese anime series: ZENSHU (produced by MAPPA) and Rock is a Lady’s Modesty, respectively. Among the five brand-new tracks is the standout single “Present Perfect”, which marks a bold emotional turn for the band. Teased last week through a cinematic preview featuring lead vocalist SAIKI atop a windswept cliffside, the song offers a powerful fusion of introspection and sonic intensity. With an expansive, emotive soundscape and soaring melodies, “Present Perfect” highlights the band’s evolving artistry. The music video officially premiered on YouTube yesterday, accompanied by a one-time live chat where the full group joined fans for a special real-time experience during the debut. In addition to their explosive new release, BAND-MAID has also been announced as the official ambassador for “Record Day” 2025, one of Japan’s largest and most celebrated analog record events. To commemorate the honor, the band will release vinyl editions of three recent titles – Unseen World, Unleash, and Epic Narratives – on November 1st, the first day of Record Day (DAY1).
Each year, Record Day selects a high-profile artist to represent the campaign, with last year’s ambassador being Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko. BAND-MAID’s appointment marks another exciting milestone, reinforcing their impact and legacy within the global music landscape.
The newly unveiled main visual for Record Day, photographed by acclaimed photographer Itaru Hirama, features SAIKI holding the Unseen World vinyl in a striking, stylized composition that integrates seamlessly with the Record Day logo. This impactful image will be featured on posters in record stores nationwide starting this month.
