Fire Emblem Shadows Launches For Mobile Devices

Where did this come from???

Fire Emblem Shadows

I’ve made it clear that I’m a huge fan of Fire Emblem. It’s my favorite Nintendo franchise, and all the games I’ve played for the series are incredible in one form or another. And when they launched the Heroes game back in 2018, I was instantly addicted to it. So, you can imagine my surprise when I started to see posts that a new game in the franchise has launched on mobile today, and it’s called Fire Emblem Shadows. The title is apparently “a strategy game meets social deduction.” That’s definitely a unique twist on things.

As noted by Nintendo, the gameplay goes as follows:

“One of the three allies participating in each battle is secretly a treacherous disciple of shadow. Players choose to take on the role of either a disciple of light, aiming to find their way through the labyrinth, or a disciple of shadow. Whether the disciples of light can correctly discover the traitor—or the disciple of shadow can successfully deceive the others—holds the key to how the next battle unfolds.”

So, yeah, Fire Emblem Shadows, which is available to download right now on iOS and Android, is definitely not like past titles, and it’ll be interesting to see how things unfold with it long-term. Over on Blue Sky, the game is already trending, but the response has been a bit mixed.

I’m truly curious why Nintendo straight-up shadow-dropped the game, no pun intended, and I can’t help but wonder if this was just an “experiment” of theirs, or if they don’t think it’ll last that long. You can watch the launch trailer for the title below:
