In what was called the worst expansion reveal in World of Warcraft’s history at Gamescom, Blizzard Entertainment has finally released a series of blogs that explain all of the new features coming to World of Warcraft: Midnight.
During the week of Gamescom, information about Midnight was scattered from reveal trailers, non-streamed panels, interviews with content creators, Blizzard’s social media accounts, YouTube shorts, podcasts, and just about every other method you could think of. Even the popular site Wowhead couldn’t find all of the data.
On top of that, information from Blizzard itself was incorrect. Such as stating there were only seven new Delves in Midnight on Facebook, only to be clarified by Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director of WoW, that there are eleven new Delves. They also, in the gameplay trailer, revealed one of the new zones as Quel’thalas, but in blog posts, they referred to it as Eversong Woods. Quel’thalas is supposed to be made up of Eversong Woods, the Ghostlands, and new areas that they added, serving as the game’s primary beginning zone for leveling.
Then, some of the information put out by Blizzard on the new zones looked like AI-generated statements that were copied and pasted with only the names of the zones and reputations changed.
Needless to say, it was a convoluted mess.
However, Blizzard has now put out a series of blogs that explain all of their new systems; however, as some users have pointed out, these blogs already contain outdated information that was corrected at Gamescom, indicating that the blogs may have been written before Gamescom, and were just now posted.
But it’s still better than what we had before.
