Another Anime Pirate Site is Being Targeted

By Josh PiedraMay 27, 2025

As the war on anime and manga piracy rages on, one of the world’s most popular sites may be finding itself in the government’s crosshairs. HiAnime has been added to the 2025 piracy watch list by the European Union.

This was discovered after TorrentFreak posted the EU’s fourth edition of the Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List. The site made the list due to its popularity. Currently, the website generates more viewership than Crunchyroll, and when you accomplish that, you are sure to have a mark painted on your back.

The EU isn’t the only government monitoring HiAnime. In January, the website was added to the United States Piracy Watch List. This was around the time when HiAnime’s traffic surpassed Disney+ in monthly global visits. One statistic states that HiAnime generated 364 million visits in October 2024.
