Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Is Now The Highest-Grossing Film In The Franchise

No...Shadow...of a doubt...

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - Shadow is back on the attack

A movie franchise’s success is often determined by how much the next film makes compared to the other. If it’s on par or a little more than the previous film, then it’s a decent success. If it outpaces the last film, it was a huge success. In the case of Sonic The Hedgehog 3, it’s only been out in theaters for about a month, and it’s officially become the highest-grossing film of the trilogy. As noted below, the movie is now at $420 million in global gross, and that puts it above the $405 million that the second film did during its entire run in 2022.

That’s great news, especially since the second film had a bigger opening than Sonic The Hedgehog 3, yet the third movie was able to eclipse it. Fans clearly loved the more mature story, the inclusion of Keanu Reeves as Shadow The Hedgehog, and everything else that made this movie shine.

Another reason this is good news is that the fourth film has already been greenlit and will feature Metal Sonic and Amy Rose! So, it’s a good time to “Live and Learn,” because you should never doubt the team behind Sonic’s films.
