Sonic The Hedgehog Voice Actor Would Be Up For Smash Bros Spinoff/Universe

...it could happen!
By Todd BlackDecember 28, 2024
Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Sonic The Hedgehog

Right now, gamers are very fairly “eating well” with certain adaptations that have happened both in the movie and TV space. One of their biggest victories is the three successful films starring Sonic The Hedgehog. Sonic 3 is out in theaters and doing very well in the US and abroad. When you add that to last year’s success of Mario via his animated film, you can see why some are wondering just how far studios can take video game films. One such person happens to be Ben Schwartz, the voice of the live-action Sonic.

In a chat with Variety, Schwartz laid down what he felt would be the way to build up that universe, even though it would take some serious outside help to make happen:

“What I really think could be bananas is if we get a “Super Smash Bros.” spinoff, but that would take so many different studios being kind to each other at the same time. But the idea that we get to build our own franchise that lives on its own, and we have so many characters within this franchise, that we can do three, four, five, six – that’s what I’m concentrating on and that’s what I love.”

The irony here is that this isn’t so far off based on recent results and announcements. Schwartz himself reminded people that there was a Pokemon movie about Detective Pikachu, Mario had his big movie last year, and The Legend of Zelda is getting the live-action tap sometime this decade. Even Sonic The Hedgehog isn’t done making stuff, as a 4th movie is already confirmed, and there’s hope for more spinoffs.

Or, if they wanted to listen to fans, they could always do a Smash Bros anime…
