Enotria: The Last Song: How To Beat Curtis Prince Of Laughter

Facing Curtis, Prince of Laughter in Enotria: The Last Song is one of the first major challenges players will encounter. For those unfamiliar with the game’s mechanics, this boss might feel like a tough obstacle. However, with the right strategy and preparation, you can beat him and move forward in the game. This guide will walk you through Curtis’ key moves, the best strategies for beating him, and the rewards you’ll earn.

How to Beat Curtis in Enotria: The Last Song

Curtis wields a Vis-infused polearm and can quickly overwhelm players with a variety of combos. His fight is divided into two distinct phases, each with its own challenges.

Curtis starts the fight by performing a flurry of attacks with his polearm. His attacks are long-reaching and aggressive, so it’s essential to parry as much as possible in this phase. His spear swings and thrusts can be tricky, but Curtis often telegraphs his attacks, giving you time to react. Stick close to him, parry his attacks, and try to land a single hit when possible. A common mistake is trying to land multiple hits—don’t do this. Stick to one hit after each successful parry, especially if you’re using a slower weapon like a Colossal Greatsword.

Avoid using heavy weapons during this fight, as they leave you vulnerable due to their long animation times. Instead, go for faster weapons like the Stage Longsword or Stage Greatsword. These provide quicker swings, allowing you to stay agile and avoid getting caught in mid-animation while Curtis continues his relentless attacks.

When it comes to his attacks, pay close attention to Curtis’ feint moves. He often fakes an attack in one direction and strikes from the opposite side. Watch his arms closely to detect this, and time your parries or dodges accordingly.

Once you’ve knocked Curtis’ health down to around 50%, he enters his second phase. In this phase, Curtis becomes more aggressive, faster, and begins using his shield. His shield attacks are harder to parry, and he introduces a new vertical slam attack, which has a much larger area of effect. Avoid this by dodging out of the way and keeping a close eye on his positioning. Curtis also begins using a double vertical slam with his polearm, which can be devastating if you’re caught in its radius.

Dodging becomes more crucial in this phase. While parrying is still useful, Curtis’ attacks are faster and leave less room for error. Focus on dodging and staying mobile. Be particularly cautious of his shield pushback, which comes with a follow-up polearm strike. Try to stay in the center of the arena to avoid getting trapped near pillars or walls, which can limit your ability to dodge effectively.

If you’re struggling, using Flask of Vis and Litumnian Grenades can help mitigate some of the damage Curtis deals during his second phase. These items help keep you in the fight longer and allow for more frequent healing.

Rewards for Beating Curtis

After defeating Curtis, you will be rewarded handsomely for your efforts. Defeating Curtis grants you 15,000 Memoria, along with 250 Curtis Mask Shards, which are essential for building his mask later in the game. But that’s not all—you also receive several powerful items that will aid you in the rest of your journey:

  1. Wrathful Charge
  2. Collera de’ Principe
  3. Decorated Roncone
  4. Aspect of Curtis
