Midnight Society Terminates Relationship with Dr. Disrespect Following Allegations

By Jakejames LugoJune 24, 2024

In a wild turn of events over a few days, Dr. Disrespect is under fire from multiple sides as the game studio Midnight Society has announced they have terminated their relationship with him. In addition, Dr. Disrespect also announced that he would be stepping away from streaming and being involved with Midnight Society in any capacity. This news comes after recent events online, which had multiple people discussing the reason behind the infamous Twitch ban that Dr. Disrespect received back in 2020. The reactions to the announcement are of shock, confusion, and worry as everyone debates about the events unfolding online.

The news was first shared online on the official Midnight Society X/Twitter account, where they announced they would be terminating their relationship with Dr. Disrespect immediately. “On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.”

Around the same time that this was published online, fans also noticed something happening on Dr. Disrespect’s live stream on YouTube. It appeared that the Doc was having fun playing Elden Ring up until he read a message he received while streaming. Immediately, his attitude changed, and he then went to say that he would be stepping away from streaming and from Midnight Society. Following this, the news spread like wildfire online, and the reactions were as expected. Many people felt this was further confirmation that Dr. Disrespect had done something horrible, and that’s why he was banned, while others were still skeptical despite Midnight Society making their announcement.

Midnight Society is a game studio that was co-founded with Guy Beahm, better known for his persona as Dr. Disrespect online when streaming. The studio was also founded with former Infinity Ward creative strategist, Robert Bowling. Midnight Society had been developing a new game called Dead Drop, a vertical extraction shooter that has gotten a mixed reception by gamers online.

The most recent controversy for Dr. Disrespect came after a former Twitch employee posted on their personal Twitter page that the Doc was banned from Twitch after being caught messaging and trying to meet with a minor through the Twitch whisper system. While many were quick to criticize the statements and details shared, others began to once again explore all avenues related to Dr. Disrespect’s ban from Twitch, which drew the attention of Robert Bowling at Midnight Society. He went on to post on his personal Twitter account, “I’m now aware, and I’m dealing with it.”

According to the statement from Midnight Society, their investigation and discussions with all parties may have yielded some bad news. “While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players.” As of now, since his last stream, Dr. Disrespect has not commented at all about the allegations or the specifics of Midnight Society’s statement.
