Metaphor: ReFantazio Officially Confirmed for PS4 and PS5

Metaphor ReFantazio PS4 PS5 reveal

While Atlus’s upcoming JRPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio (once known as Project Re Fantasy), was initially revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, many had wondered if this meant that the game would be an Xbox exclusive. However, today, Atlus has revealed that that won’t be the case and that Metaphor: ReFantazio is also headed to the PS4, PS5, as well as the Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

It was previously mentioned that the title was heading to a PS4 and PS5 in a tweet noticed on the Atlus Twitter account, but it has since been deleted. However, a number of keen eyes had already noticed this, leading many to speculate that the reveal wasn’t supposed to happen and would be revealed during an upcoming live stream.

Game director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro are leading the development of Metaphor: ReFantazio. According to Katsura Hashino, this will be Atlus’s most ambitious JRPG, and it will be massive.

During the Metaphor: ReFantazio Special Celebration Livestream, Atlus confirmed that the title would grace other platforms, and provided new information on the upcoming title, such as the design process, what Atlus learned from the development of Persona 5, and much more.

You can watch the live stream in its entirety below.

While it was mentioned that Metaphor: ReFantazio is being released in 2024, we don’t have a release date or release window as of yet. But at least we now know that the title will be released for the PS4, PS5, as well as the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
