Gearbox Publishing Unveils Remnant II Story Trailer at Guerilla Collective Showcase

During the 2023 Guerilla Collective Showcase, Gearbox Publishing and Gunfire Games released a new trailer for the upcoming Action RPG Remnant II. This new trailer gets players up to speed on the events that took place during Remnant from the Ashes and shed some light on long it has been since players took on the Root.

Now that the Root is back, it’s just a matter of time before they finish where they left off, and now it’s time for new heroes to arise and take the fight to the Root… again.

Remnant II plunges players deeper into a devastated world, requiring a mix of methodical and frenetic ranged and melee combat against cunning enemies and punishing boss battles. Players can take on the Root by themselves or make things a bit easier (easier?) by grouping up with two friends to overcome daunting challenges. Each time players start a new playthrough of Remnant II, they will be brought into a new world built from a procedurally generated pool of locations, enemies, NPCs, bosses, and weapons. Ensuring that every session and every playthrough will be unique and rewarding.

An updated Archetype system gives players more flexibility to their play style and lets groups better sync unique passive abilities and stunning powers together in co-op play. So far, Gunfire Games has revealed three archetypes; Gunslinger, Handler (complete with doggo), and the Challenger, who carries a big sword. Out of the three, I’m looking forward to spreading some Root with the Challenger, as it suits my playstyle perfectly.

As someone who enjoyed Remnant from the Ashes, I’m looking forward to playing Remnant II. Ever since the credits rolled on my first playthrough, I was hoping that Gunfire Games would revisit this world, especially since there was still so much lore to be explored, and I just had that feeling that the Root wasn’t done yet. Believe me when I say that I’ve been counting down the days ever since Remnant II was revealed during the 2022 The Game Awards.

Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Remnant II, but we do know that it will be released Summer of 2023. However, with the Summer Game Fest 2023 just around the corner, perhaps we’ll get that release date.
