Does Gundam Evolution Support Cross-Platform Play

Gundam Evolution is Bandai Namco’s latest foray into the Gumdan game universe, which pits players against each other in 6 vs. 6 formats, across several game modes; Point Capture, Point Capture, and Destruction. Though, sometimes, any of these modes usually turns into a team deathmatch. It’s fast and frantic and does require a bit of team chemistry to pull out the wins. However, what I keep seeing people ask about the game is does Gundam Evolution supports cross-platform play.

When Gundam Evolution was first released, it was only available for the PC. So, of course, there was no cross-platform play, as it was only available on the PC. However, a few months later, the game received both an update and a release for the PC, and a release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

With the release of Gundam Evolution onto the consoles, you’d think that cross-platform play would be available. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, and the game still doesn’t support cross-platform play. The last time we checked with Bandai Namco, the developer/publisher stated it didn’t have any plans to add cross-platform play to the game. With no cross-platform play, players can only match up against those on the same platform. And if that platform doesn’t have a huge following, it’s going to hurt the queues and those who want to play the game.

Not only does it not support cross-platform play, but Gundam Evolution also doesn’t support cross-progression. Meaning if you’re playing the game on PC, and want to switch to the Xbox or PlayStation, you’ll have to rank up and purchase everything all over again.

Yes, it’s a huge bummer for sure. It also could be the cause of the game not doing well and possibly dying soon than it should.

As for why Bandai Namco has decided to go this route is anyone’s guess. Other popular team-based shooters such as Overwatch 2, and Apex Legends let you cross-play across the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. Honestly, Bandai Namco needs to change their stance on cross-platform play, or Gundam Evolution is going to crash and burn, which would be a shame as it’s an enjoyable game, especially for those (like me) who really enjoy the Gundam spin to the game.

Gundam Evolution is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC… with NO cross-platform support.
